Är DCIS cancer?

Duktal cancer in situ, DCIS, uppstår i bröstets mjölkgångar och är bröstcancer i ett tidigt stadium. DCIS är icke-invasiv, vilket betyder att den stannar på platsen där den uppstått och inte sprider sig utanför bröstet. Vid DCIS fylls mjölkgångarna av cancerceller så att mjölkgångarna förkalkas.

Vad betyder DCIS grad 2?

DCIS bildar sällan knölar i bröstet och kan därför inte säkert kännas med fingrarna. Om DCIS lämnas obehandlad är risken stor att den med tiden omvandlas till en fullt utvecklad bröstcancer (invasiv). Ju större en DCIS är ju högre är risken att det finns små härdar inom området av fullt utvecklad invasiv bröstcancer.

Cyklin A och Ki-67 har i vetenskapliga studier visat sig ha ett prognostisk värde, hög reproducerbarhet och definierade beslutsgränser som skiljer hög proliferation från låg. I Sverige drabbas cirka 7 000 patienter årligen av bröstcancer, vilket motsvarar 15–20 kvinnor varje dag.
